Eagle Technology GIS Graduate Programme

Eagle Technology’s one-year Graduate Programme has everything set up so you can drive your own success within a positive and supportive environment. Starting with six weeks of intensive learning and continuing with learning on the job, you will be based in our Wellington CBD location where you'll get ongoing support from experienced mentors, development opportunities, and support towards professional technical certifications.

Programme Duration: 12 month fixed term contract, full time employment

Applications for the Eagle Technology GIS Graduate Programme Starting June 2025 and Feb 2026 will open in March 2025.

Programme Structure

  • Rotations: Graduates will spend approximately 15 weeks in the Eagle Technology GIS Technical Support and Technical Solutions Teams respectively. Once the graduates are a significant way through their programme they will also get to shadow a Technical Advisor and a Managed Services team member.
  • Training & Development:
    • Attendance on the Geospatial Accelerated Learning Programme (GALoP)
    • Attendance on the ArcGIS Enterprise: Configuring a Base Deployment course
    • Attendance on the ArcGIS Enterprise: Administration Workflows course
    • Multiple 3 to 5 day long challenges scattered throughout the graduate programme designed to build upon and reinforce the knowledge learnt on GALoP and/or an instructor led course.
    • Access to eLearning resources on the Esri Academy to fill in any gaps in knowledge
  • Key Skills: A graduate in our programme will gain the following skills:
    • An understanding of core ArcGIS products
    • A solid awareness of essential IT principles, including databases, security, and web services,
    • A familiarity with how to leverage ArcGIS and related technologies to design and implement solutions that address real-world business challenges
    • An improved capability to deliver clear, effective presentations or demonstrations
    • The ability to work directly with clients to understand and document their business needs
    • A strengthened ability to work within a team focused on developing technical solutions or resolving issues
    • Improved verbal and written communication skills to effectively support customers and ensure a positive user experience.
    • The ability to systematically identify and diagnose technical problems with software
    • Strengthened analytical and critical thinking skills to approach and resolve issues in GIS environments.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Degree Requirements: Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor degree at a minimum.
  • Graduation Window: Applicants must have graduated within one year prior to the start date of the graduate programme intake or be on track to graduate between the application closing date and the programme start date.
  • What we are looking for in a candidate  
    • Experience with data analysis and visualisation. 
    • Ability to manipulate complex datasets. 
    • Exposure to programming languages. 
    • A strong grasp of essential IT skills. 
    • An interest in computer science. 
    • While not all of these attributes are necessary, candidates with a combination of these skills will be highly regarded.

  • Documents Needed: You will need to submit your CV, cover letter and academic transcript with your application. We are aware that your transcript won’t be an official one, just submit where you are at so far.

  • how you actively seek out new knowledge.  
  • how you communicate thoughtfully and effectively 
  • any other relevant skills or experience you would like to highlight and how they align with a career in this field. 
  • Deadlines: Applications for the GIS Graduate Programme will be open in March.
  • Selection Process:
    • Once applications have closed, ALL of the applications will be reviewed.
    • If we shortlist you, you will be required to complete a short video interview
    • If selected to progress further, you will need to attend a final round interview via a virtual meeting. During the interview, you will get to tell us about yourself and what you like to do outside of university, and why you want to join Eagle Technology. You will also get to answer more questions, based on our standard behavioural-based interview questions.
    • If you aren't selected, we will let you know via email.
    • If you are offered a job, we will notify you by phone and then complete a reference check and then send you a formal offer.

Our graduates commence in either early February or Late June, depending on the intake you are part of.

  • Salary Information:  NZ$63,000 - 66,000 / Year.

  • Career Progression: While Eagle Technology can not guarantee a permanent role at the end of the programme graduates will be able to apply for any open positions that are available as well as having a highly sort after graduate programme to list on your CV if there are no positions available at Eagle Technology at the end of the one year programme.

  • How many rotations will I have on the Graduate Programme? You will complete two rotations while on the Graduate Programme. One with the Eagle Technology Technical Support team and the other with the technical Solutions team

  • Do Eagle Technology offer flexible or remote working? At the start of your graduate program, you are expected to work on-site at the Eagle Technology Wellington Office. This arrangement aims to facilitate your integration into the company and foster healthy, strong relationships with colleagues. After an appropriate period, you will have the option to work from home up to two days a week.
