Eagle Technology GIS Summer Intern Programme

Eagle Technology’s GIS Summer Intern Programme offers a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in GIS while working full-time over the summer. Over the course of 10 weeks, you will be part of a dynamic team where you’ll learn from motivated professionals and work on exciting projects that enhance your skills and understanding of the spatial industry.

Programme Duration: 10 weeks, starting mid-November and concluding mid-February, with a break over Christmas and New Year’s.

Location: The GIS Summer Intern Programme can be completed from the Eagle Technology Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch office

Applications for the Eagle Technology GIS Summer Intern Programme Starting November 2025 will open July 2025.

Programme Structure

  • Work and Learning Experience:
    • ​Real-world GIS tasks in a supportive team environment.
    • Exposure to projects that build your technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Key Skills
    • ​Hands-on experience with core ArcGIS products.
    • A deeper understanding of GIS and its applications in real-world business scenarios.
    • Enhanced collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
    • Insight into the spatial industry in New Zealand and potential career paths.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Degree Requirements: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a tertiary education programme, ideally with a focus on GIS, geography, computer science, or related fields.
  • Work Rights: Applicants must be a New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid New Zealand Work Visa that allows full-time work during the internship period.
  • What We Are Looking For in a candidate​​
    • A keen interest in GIS and spatial technologies.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Exposure to data analysis and visualisation.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Deadlines: Applications open in July and close in August.
  • Selection Process:
    • ​Once applications have closed, ALL the applications will be reviewed.
    • If we shortlist you, you will be required to complete a short video interview
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual interview to discuss your background, interests, and alignment with the internship.
    • If you aren't selected, we will let you know via email.
    • If you are offered a job, we will notify you by phone and then complete a reference check and then send you a formal offer.
